I loved the original Gone series, I thought it was brutal, well-paced and innovative for the genre that it's seemingly unique to. I am sad to say that I despise these spin-off's and it has completely ruined my perception of the series. I am now trying to erase its existence from my mind and focusing on the original ending of the series. Grant writes extremely well but the pacing is terrible, the characters undeveloped, the returning characters are poorly dealt with and Animorphs are involved? The thing that made the original series so entertaining was that it dealt with outlandish concepts like mutations and powers, but was grounded in a thick sense of reality at the same time. This was just too ridiculous to deal with or to take seriously. The ending? Jesus Christ. As I said, trying to erase this set of spin-off's from my mind.
